Hi there. Welcome to my web-site.
About me. I was born in Fort Smith, Arkansas, growing up there is dust between my toes walking bare-footed to the fishing hole under Free Ferry Road. I love the country life and am a country boy at heart. After drawing portraits of my Granddad at 7 years old, my parents nudged me in the direction of Art. Being pretty much of a flop in most all of my other studies, I excelled in Art going on to the Memphis Academy of Arts in Memphis, Tennessee, graduating with a BA in Painting. I received a scholarship from the Duesseldorf Kunst Akademie in Duesseldorf, Germany and moved there, studying with many renowned European Artists for 5 years. I received a MA from the Academie.
After graduation, I worked for 3 years as an Art Director at Gramm & Grey Advertising Agency moving on to become an Illustrator and Comp-Artist for all the major agencies in Germany. I moved back to my wonderful America settling here in Saint Louis, Missouri. (In Duesseldorf, it rains or is misting most every day. It is dark and grey with only a week or two of real Summer a year!!!) I moved back home because I missed our big blue sky and sunny weather.
In Saint Louis, I worked for most all the major ad-agencies establishing myself as a Comp-Artist. After years of diminishing work, the computer put me totally out of that business. During that time, I had discovered my love for dancing and music beginning DJ-ing and competing as an Imperial Swing Dancer. I started JIM'S DANCES at the Concord Farmers Club in 1998 and made it the most popular swing dance in St. Louis. I left Concord in 2002 because of the previlant back-stabbing politics there. In 2003, I moved on to start Country & Western Dances in Saint Charles. We have a great fun time every Wednesday night at the MOOOOOOOOOSE LODGE, RIGHT NEXT TO CHUCKY CHEESE-------COME ON OUT AND DANCE WITH US. You will have fun.
During all my travels, working, dancing, DJ-ing and having fun, I have always worked on my Art, my one true love. I have been painting PORTRAITS as long as I can recall and love it. All mediums work for me and I enjoy creating with them.
I hope you will enjoy my web-site and have some fun.
